Few days after I introduced Charice Pempengco, someone had asked me to check out for Susan Boyle. He told me Charice is nothing when compared to Susan and Susan would simply outclass Charice from head to toe.
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I first saw her on Youtube because I wasn’t expecting that the lady whom I was about to watch is a 47-years-old, peasant-like with a bucolic feel’s woman. I think my friend should have described something about her to me before asking me to check her out. At least I could save the “disappointment” part. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t discriminating against her, just that I was expecting something more… Perhaps slightly more aesthetically appealing!
Before I watch her video I thought that she must have a class of her own just by looking at the number of views she had. Well at least up till now her number of hits and views had already outclassed Charice. After watching her performance in British Got Talent, I was totally disappointed and underwhelmed! I mean, yeah… she has good vocal but I bet there are millions out there who can sing as well as her. I guess it was the chemistry that gave her the fame… what kind of chemistry, below average face + a good voice! To me… instead of her being really exceptional, I think is the inspiration and aspiration that she conveyed captured the heart and soul of the public.
So, back to her singing… does she really deserve all the standing ovation and enthusiasm? I seriously don’t think so. But of cause, she deserves a credit for being inspirational and for having the gut to stand on a stage where millions were watching… For this, I idolize her.
To me, I think she was kind of overrated. Looking back to the previous Britain Got Talent… Leona Lewis or Paul Potts or even Connie Talbot sang better than her. In case you haven’t watched any of her video, here is one to share with you…

to be perfectly honest that show is the absolute antichrist. you CANNOT, and mean simply CANNOT judge someone on a show that is just set up to build someone up and then exploit them.
ReplyDeletesomeone can be really talent, but really overcome with nerves. Adrenaline can really destroy your performing ability believe me I know. So before you say someone is overrated, try doing what she did.
When I first watched Susan Boyle sing, I was totally blown away! Her voice, I believe, merits all the hoopla that she has received. I don't believe she is overrated at all!
